Questions people ask us

Is PropertyLawyers4You a firm of solicitors?
No, and the distinction matters. PropertyLawyers4You is a quote comparison and introduction service — a trading name of Seasons Law Ltd (company number 17058017). We are not a regulated law firm and we do not carry out legal work or hold client money. The conveyancer we introduce you to is regulated in their own right and acts for you under their own engagement.
How does PropertyLawyers4You get paid?
We are paid by the conveyancing firm for the introduction, not by you. That is why the quote you see is the quote you pay — there is no comparison fee or mark-up added on top. It is also why we say plainly that we are an introducer rather than an impartial register of every firm in the country.
Which parts of the UK do you cover?
England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate legal systems with different processes, terminology and documents, so a quote generated here would not apply to a property there.
Am I committed to anything once I get a quote?
No. The quote is free, and it arrives on screen and by email with nothing to sign. You are free to compare it against others and to walk away. Nothing is instructed until you tell the conveyancer to begin.
Who actually handles my move?
A named conveyancer at a regulated firm — regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, and covered by professional indemnity insurance. You deal with the person handling your file directly rather than through us or a call centre.
What do you need from me to produce a quote?
Whether you are buying, selling, doing both or remortgaging; the property value; the postcode; and whether the property is freehold or leasehold. That is enough to itemise the legal fee and the disbursements. No documents and no credit check at the quote stage.
